One of the Fastest Sports on Four Legs - Greyhound Dog Racing

Greyhound Dog Racing Tips.

It is indeed truly amazing the ultimate speed of man's best friend, and whereas, the Cheetah, Horse, and Gazelle appear to be the fastest land animals, they are not too far ahead of the greyhound, which often clocks in at just under 35 miles per hour. This of course, gives us a slightly longer race than the championship horse races, but not much. And did you know that bets as large as one-million dollars have been placed on greyhound race dogs in England? With that kind of money on the line, it sure draws in the crowds to watch these amazing animals.

Greyhounds are smart, agile, and they are built for speed. Amazingly enough, these greyhounds can hit their maximum speed and sustain it quite well, and they absolutely love to run. Greyhound racing is much more popular in the UK than it is in the United States, but that is not to say that it is dead here, far from it.

If you've ever wondered how these dogs are trained to run even faster than their normal potential, you should search; "training dogs for greyhound racing: fitness training for greyhound" on YouTube, and you will be completely amazed. Not all owners of racing dogs do it strictly for the money, rather for the sport, and they truly love their dogs.

And in case anyone thinks this is a sport which falls into the category of "cruelty to animals" they are wrong, because these dogs are treated very well, they love to run, and I guarantee you they are loved as much or more than your family dog, and they eat better too. They get to run and do what they love, so please consider all this.
