The #1 Way to Use Inside Information to Pick Winners at the Dog Track

Greyhound Dog Racing Tips.

Now, I'm not saying the dog races are rigged or that there's anything going on behind the scenes that isn't strictly kosher. But with all that money floating around the track, you can bet that some people are tempted to "cut corners" shall we say.

That said, greyhounds, unlike horses, don't have jockeys on their back when they run. So how do trainers get them to come in, even when they've had a few lousy races? I wondered that when I first started going to the dog track back in the 70's. Then I got a job helping out at a kennel and it wasn't long before I was learning the inside secrets that the dog handlers know.

Just about any greyhound can win a race, if the race is "set up" for him. Of course, at the track, dogs are picked for each race by chance, not intentionally. Usually, it's done by picking colored balls out of a hat or something similar. The balls are colored to match the post positions and each dog is assigned his post position by which ball is picked.

Of course, races are made up of dogs who are in the same grade, which ISN'T always a matter of chance, which is where the element of intention comes in. If the racing secretary happens to pick your dog for a race where you know that he's facing dogs who aren't as good as him, you're a trainer who knows that your dog has a very good chance to win.

Say the other dogs are all dogs who have just gotten into that grade and haven't won in it, and your dog has. That gives your dog the edge and makes him a good bet for you and for anyone who knows this little bit of inside information.

But the bettors DON'T know this unless they really look at their program and go back over every single dog in the race, checking their racing history back many races. Most people aren't going to do this. You probably aren't going to do this. So how does this piece of information I just gave you help you win at the dog track?

Well, if you have a good handicapping system, you'll pick these dogs, because the factors that show that a dog is ready to win are the same factors that good handicapping systems use to give you winners. Handicapping is the art and science of picking winners based on factors that most people don't consider. That's why most people lose at the track. If you want to win, don't do what the crowd does. Get a system and use it and you'll find that you're betting on the same dogs that the insiders are.
