Greyhound Handicapping - Why a System Isnt The Key To Winning

Greyhound Dog Racing Tips.

You're probably asking yourself why someone who sells systems - that would be me - would pick this title for an article. Don't I want to sell my systems? Of course I do. And, in my opinion, using them along with your own basic handicapping skills can help you pick more winners. But systems, no matter how good, aren't all you need to pick winning dogs.

Neither is luck, although it's a good thing when Lady Luck smiles on you. The problem with luck though, is that you can't control it. You can't demand to have good luck. Well, you can, but we know where that'll get you, don't we?

No, the next best thing to a good system is a good plan to implement that system. Call it a strategy or an outline or whatever you want to call it, but a strategy is what makes your system work. For instance, if you don't have a plan, what are you going to do after you use your system to find likely looking dogs?

Are you going to bet them? If so, which ones? In which races? All of the dogs in all of the races? Just some races? Well then, how will you decide which races and which dogs to bet? Will you use the odds board? Will you just bet the dogs you feel really strongly about or will you go for longshots?

These and other questions have to be answered before you can use your system to make money. And, as we all know, making money is what it's all about. So, if you don't have a plan to go with your system, maybe you should think about working on one before you handicap your next race.

That way, after you use your system to help you handicap for the best bets, you can use your plan to figure out the best way to use that information. Maybe you'll decide that your best strategy is win bets, because that's where you get your best ROI. Or maybe, for you, ten cent supers are the best wager, because you're not as concerned about making money. You just want a small bet in every race, which is your idea of a good time, because you can't lose that much and you might win quite a bit with a little luck.

Armed with a good system and a strategy to get the most bang for your buck with that system, you'll probably find that you do much better and feel more sure of yourself at the track. It's the people who don't plan at all who have the least luck, I've found. They may have a system, but they don't have a plan, so they pick winners, but they still go home with less than they came with.
